Casting Vision and Getting Results Part II – Why bother?
First of all, I’d like to be really clear about some things regarding secular work. Outside of government service jobs or paid ministry, there are only two ways to make money. 1) Sell something. 2) Work for someone that sells something. No revenues are ever generated until someone buys and someone sells. Everything else comes out of that process. What does this mean for us?
- You are in sales. – Whether it’s convincing your kids to clean their room, working on a car lot or selling your work skills on a daily basis to your boss… you’re in sales.
- Everyone is self-employed – Disagree? Actually the most insecure jobs are the ones where you don’t have control over when they let you go. That’s pretty much any job. You’re only as secure as your ability to generate income for the company you work for.
- You’re competing globally now – So many jobs can be outsourced to foreign countries now. The Earth really is getting smaller all the time. We’ve got to improve, educate and otherwise work on ourselves if we intend to continue to be competitive.
Casting vision and selling your ideas to others is a key portion of being a good leader and effective provider. Spend some time learning this skill and it will pay off many times over.
